As well as caring for the guinea pigs in the shelter (100+) we also provide care for many many others that pass through the shelter for free health checks. We actively improve the lives of those little ones by advising on correct care and also through our health screenings where we pick up on issues that may otherwise have gone unnoticed.

Please don't buy a guinea pig from a pet store. Why Adopt?
Please don't buy a guinea pig from a pet store but adopt from a rescue. Petco and Petsmart as well as small local shops sell guinea pigs that come from huge breeding facilities just like puppy mills.
Many of these poor pigs are sick when purchased. We have heard and seen horror stories about sick and dying babies. We have also have seen way too many guinea pigs fresh from the pet store come through our door with horrible upper respiratory infections and ringworm, lice and mite infections.
You are NOT rescuing by buying the animal from a store. Adopt, please don't buy! If you have a similar experience with a pet store we want to hear from you! Email us through the contact form

Guinea Pigs Love Company
Guinea Pigs are social creatures that thrive in the company of other pigs.
Because of this we do not re home single guinea pigs unless the animal is to be a companion for the guinea pig (s) you already have.
So please count on adopting at least a pair or trio of guinea pigs. We only adopt out same sex pairs or neutered male/female pairs.

Does Your Guinea Pig Chirp like a Bird?
It is very rare to catch a pig Chirping, let alone two in one day! Raquel and Crescent treated us to a concert and we were lucky to be there and film both. Both on the same day, two hours apart. Enjoy!

Guinea Pig Cages
The typical pet store cages are NOT OK for guinea pigs – even the XL versions. For this reason we (and every other guinea pig rescue that does it right) do not allow adoptions unless an approved cage will be used to house the animals. If this is a problem for you then we suggest you look into adopting a different animal altogether, preferably one that will not be restricted to a cage or is happy with a smaller living arrangement like a hamster (even though hamsters do need more space than the tiny cages pet shops have you believe are ok.) It is our job to make sure the pigs will live in an appropriate cage that will keep them healthy and happy. Guinea pigs need specific cages. So do not buy a cage yet till you have read the cage requirements.
We have two have types of cages at $60 suggested donation. Look here for more info Guinea Pig Cages.
We speak from experience. We have been caring for and rescuing guinea pigs for over 17 years.
