Breaking News -  246 Female Guinea Pigs Just Rescued

October / November Update

MOST OF THE MUMS HAVE GIVEN BIRTH
AND WE HAVE SO MANY CUTE BABIES YOU CAN ADOPT

Los Angeles, CA-July 2025-In the wake of a disturbing hoarding incident, Los Angeles Guinea Pig Rescue and Adoption Center (LAGPR) has taken in nearly 250 guinea pigs from a hoarder, saving the piggies from squalid living conditions while providing new opportunities for them to be placed in loving, safe homes.
Earlier this month, authorities intervened to remove some 400 guinea pigs from squalid and unsanitary conditions as a South Los Angeles home. Of those pets, 246 were relocated to LAGPR,
“We were heartbroken to see the news about the unlivable conditions facing these guinea pigs, but we knew that we were uniquely situated to come in and help these pets,”

The hard work has began and harder work is yet to come as these females give birth. We estimate that the current number of guinea pigs from this hoarding case will increase in the weeks ahead to a total number of 800!!
We need to find homes for each and every one of them as well as feed and care for them.

How Can You Help?

We are seeking homes for all the guinea pigs under our care and are encouraging adoptions there are various times and days available. Please start an adoption here.
Donations - Please help these guinea pigs as they transition to their new life here at the rescue with a donation.  We have taken on a new full time staffer to support our current staff in taking care of this massive group that will grow to about 800 guinea pigs total in the next 2 months. We need funds for vet care, medications and food. As you know these little guys needs lots and lots of fresh greens and veggies and our expenses are through the roof. As a small rescue we really need your help!

Please don't buy a guinea
pig from a pet store. Why adopt?
Watch this video

Please don't buy a guinea pig from a pet store until the corporations can guarantee healthy animals being sold! . Big name pet stores as well as small local shops sell guinea pigs that come from huge breeding facilities just like puppy mills. Many of the animals are sick when purchased.
